I usually work in 2000x2000 unless I’m doing a commission, then it varies around 4000x4000. This window will appear and you can choose the size of your file, the dpi, and the initial layer format (color or 8 bit).
You can either go to the drop down menu under “file” and select “new” to make a new file, or you can use command + N if you’re on a mac. It gives you a few basic brushes to start out. Like most art programs, you can import different brushes and such to use.
